RENOVATION OF LANDSCAPE INFRASTRUCTURE IN AN INDUSTRIAL CITY (WITH REFERENCE TO KOMSOMOLSK-ON-AMUR)

An analysis of the new master plan for Komsomolsk-on-Amur has revealed its shortcomings from the standpoint of the environmentally oriented approach to city functioning. With an eye to the idea of improving the spatial environment of this industrial city, a proposal is put forward to create an integrated landscaping and planning system for Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The concept of renovation of the city’s architectural and planning structure should generate an environmentally sustainable landscaping plan on the basis of preservation of the unique natural resources and reconstruction of the old city recreation parks. The article outlines the issue of protection of natural landscapes in the context of urbanized territories.

Key words: landscape infrastructure, master plan, industrial city, sustainable ecological development
