Theory of architecture

The article discusses two key themes in contemporary theory of architecture. Qualitative changes in the lifestyles speed up changes in the views as to what contemporary architecture should be like. The other theme is related to the obsolescence of the Vitruvian triad "utility-strength-beauty". The author suggests broadening considerably the range of research specialisations in architecture.
