A LINEAR MODEL OF SETTLEMENT: RETROSPECTIVE ANALYSIS OF THE IDEAL CITY CONCEPT


The issue of optimal use of resources ensuring comfortable life in cities led to the emergence of a new form of settlement – a linear city. This concept provoked lively interest among architecture theorists, practitioners and town-planners. The article provides some interpretations of this idea, their analysis and considers possibilities for their use in contemporary conditions.
